Welcome to Way to Live

This website is a companion to the book Way to Live. Both the book and the website challenge teens to explore 18 practices that shape their lives with God and others. You don't have to read the book to understand waytolive.org. Reading the book, however, will deepen your understanding of the practices.

Why did we develop a website to go with our book? Because today's teens are online. And because the Internet provides a wonderful format for introducing Christian practices. On waytolive.org teen-aged characters speak in ways other teens will recognize. Real-life issues emerge. Hard questions get asked. Teens who meet these characters and learn about their life issues will be inspired to think about their own lives as well.

The scenes on waytolive.org are take-off points for challenging conversations. The actors are members of a public high school drama club, and some of their own life stories shape the characters they portray. While the sponsors of this website do not endorse everything these characters say and do, we trust they will get teens thinking about the way to live into which Christ is calling them.

We encourage adults to talk with teens about this way to live and to accompany them in taking the challenge of Christian living. Try watching one of the scenes together. Discuss it. Take one of the challenges at the end of the scene. Read the book chapter on this practice. Find discussion questions, activities, prayers, songs, and other resources in the Leader's Guide. The point is to do these things together, with other people, over time.

To teens reading this we say: Find a community to practice the practices with! Go to your church or go to church with a friend and get involved in the loving, challenging life of God.

To adults reading this we say: Get to know the young people in your faith community! Join them—and ask them to join you and other adults—in exploring the good way to live God intends for all of us.
